An interview with our very Own Charlie Pegrum

Can you just tell us a little bit about your footballing background and when you joined Leyton Orient?

“When I was U8s, I was at QPR. Then I got to U12 and I got released and then I took a year out and played Sunday league with all my friends. When it got to U14s I signed for Leyton Orient, and I’ve been here ever since.”

What position do you play, and what made you want to play there?

“I play any of the attacking roles really, and I just love scoring goals so I just love being attacking.”

If you had to compare yourself to a player in your position that best resembles your playing style, who would it be and why?

“I want to say someone like Jack Wilshere, I love the way he plays, and I think he is a great player.”

What would you say is your best attribute?

“I’d say when I’m on the ball I’m good at creating chances and making stuff happen for the team.”

Do you have any goals that you want to achieve with your time at Leyton Orient?

“The end goal mainly is to get my pro here, then kick on and start my career.”

Can you remember what your first pair of football boots were?

“I actually can, it was a pair of Umbro’s because at the time it was the only pair of boots that they did in my size because I was small. They were black and white.”

What football team do you support? And who’s your favourite player?

“I support West Ham and my favourite player has to be Declan Rice”

What is your favourite food?

“I like Mexican food so fajitas, tacos and stuff like that.”

What sort of music do you listen to?

“I listen to a bit of everything, American rap, hip hop, RnB I like it all to be fair.”

What is your favourite song to listen to before a game?

“I like Roddy Ricch he has some good songs.”

Who inspires you as a young person?

“I’d say my dad to be fair, when I was younger, I played in a team where my dad was the manager and I played with my brother. It just really made me want to play football for the rest of my life.”

What’s your all-time favourite TV show and film?

“Ahh, it has to be Prison Break, Prison break is so good. I like a film called Amateur or Coach Carter, I think those two are really good.”
