O’s get first win of the new year!

This morning saw the O’s matchup away to MKDons seeing them take all three points after a convincing 3-1 performance. The last time the two sides met, they both walked away with a point after an Obiero brace.

This fixture saw one goal from MKDons Tripp, and Orient’s three goals came from Apat and Fish, who found the net twice.

Both teams were settling into the match retaining possession of the ball, without much final third creation in the first few stages of the game.

The first opportunity fell to Orient as Fish collected the ball on the left side of the pitch. He cut inside on his right foot and shot low and hard. The effort cannoned off the post and hit the back of the keeper, which saw the ball trickle into the back of the net.

Orient grew with confidence after this goal as Fish and Davies had good chanced to extend the lead, but both failed to hit the target.

Not long after, Clements made a bursting run through the middle of the park splitting the defence, but he couldn’t apply the finish at the end of it.

Just minutes before the half time whistle Orient had a corner which was taken by Koroma. Koroma played a great ball into the head of Apat who was unmarked in the box, he took his chance well which gave Orient a 2-0 lead going into the second half.

Half Time: MKDons 0-2 Leyton Orient

A quiet second half picked up in the 60th minute as Fish had a shot on goal which hit the post, however, minutes later he found his second of the match as his driven attempt on goal beat the keeper on his near post.

From this point there wasn’t much action although Orient dominated the game throughout still creating chances, but not enough to concern the MKDons keeper.

Minutes before the end of the game, MKDons found a consolation. A testing ball saw Sworder come out and punch the ball. Unfortunately for Orient the ball fell to the feet of MKDons Tripp who took his chance well.

As MKDons started to commit players forward to find another goal Orient’s Reggie Pegrum and Avgoustidis had chances of their own but couldn’t take them.
