A debut brace from striker Macauley Bonne helped Orient to a 6-1 pre-season victory at Harlow Town.
Having fallen behind to Junior Dadson’s 21st minute strike, the O’s went into the break ahead thanks to goals from David Mooney and Tristan Abrahams, and added a third soon after the restart through Trialist B.
Bonne, who completed his move to the O’s from Colchester United yesterday, then joined in the act with a close range header on the 68th minute, before claiming his second with a precise left-footed finish 10 minutes from time.
Trialist B then claimed his second on the 86th minute, rifling home brilliantly from distance as the O's impressed under new Head Coach Steve Davis.
The O’s included summer signings Christian Scales, Alex Lawless and David Mooney in the starting XI, as well as fellow new addition Jake Caprice who took the armband for the first half.
Of the two sides, it was the hosts who started the brighter with Orient adjusting to the 4G surface, and with just under 10 minutes played Orient goalkeeper Charlie Grainger was called into action to parry Junior Dadson’s low shot behind for a corner.
On the back of that Orient responded with an opportunity of their own, as Mooney picked out the run of Tristan Abrahams on the left. The young striker took the ball in his stride to enter the area but his shot was held by David Hughes in the Harlow goal.
Abrahams then lashed a strike inches wide from the edge of the area, before Harlow made the breakthrough on the 21st minute.
A long throw into the box wasn’t fully cleared by the O’s, and Dadson made the most of the opportunity by picking out the bottom corner with an accurate strike.
However, Harlow’s advantage would only last all of four minutes as Orient levelled through Mooney.
Christian Scales burst forward down the left and kept his composure to cut the ball back for the Irishman to stroke home from six-yards out.
Mooney was producing a number of classy touches inside the final third, and having combined well with Steven Alzate on the 33rd minute almost played in Abrahams with a chipped pass but Hughes came off his line sharply to clear.
Soon after Mooney almost claimed his second of the afternoon with a first-time effort from outside the box, but his curling effort fell inches wide of the post.
With the half drawing to a close, Orient then took the lead on the 41st minute when Abrahams was on hand to slot home after Mooney had seen his header brilliantly parried away by Hughes.
Abrahams strike ensured the O’s went into the break ahead, and ahead of the second half Head Coach Steve Davis made wholesale changes by fielding a completely different XI which saw another summer addition take the captains armband in midfielder Charlie Lee.
Following the restart Orient started brightly, and striker Macauley Bonne was presented with a chance inside the opening two minutes when racing onto a flick but was denied by Hughes.
Josh Koroma then saw a shot from outside the area held, before Orient doubled their advantage on the 52nd minute when Trialist B turned well in the area before lashing a left-footed shot beyond Hughes.
With just over 20 minutes remaining Orient claimed a fourth as Bonne marked his debut with a goal by getting up well to head home Trialist C’s cross from close range.
Bonne was then at it again on the 80th minute, showing great composure to add his second and Orient’s fifth with a precise left-footed strike into the bottom corner.
The scoring was not finished their however as with four minutes left to go the impressive Trialist B registered his second of the afternoon with a scorching strike from distance to wrap up an emphatic victory at the Harlow Arena.
