First meeting between teams, but O's will be well clued up on Crawley says assistant bossORIENT take on Crawley Town for the first time in the club's history as they return to npower League 1 action on Saturday, but assistant boss Kevin Nugent insists it won't be a step into the unknown.
Crawley's remarkable rise from non-league to the third tier has seen them win back-to-back promotions, like Stevenage before them.
They have made a good start to life in League 1 as well, with six points from their first three matches, and Nugent says the O's will be well prepared for the test.
"We know plenty about them, same as we would any other team," said Nugent.
"They've been on a fantastic run through the leagues and obviously have the new manager now [Richie Barker] who we know about from Bury.
"We know that it is going to be a tough game - there's a good atmosphere at the stadium, they are a strong side, well organised and they have creativity in there as well."
Orient are looking for their first points of the season and Nugent is calling for more creativity from his side.
"We need to improve on the creative side to our play," he continued.
"Defensively against Stevenage, I thought that as a unit we were very good. They had two shots on goal, unfortunately one of which they scored from.
"We need to be better going forwards, from back to front. We need to give strikers better options and try to feed them with better chances."
