Winger's praise for striker after he gets off the mark in Gloucester winDEAN COX had praise for O's striker David Mooney after he broke his duck for the season in Wednesday's FA Cup with Budweiser win at Gloucester City.
The Londoners looked set for a frustrating conclusion to the night with non-league Gloucester holding Orient at 0-0 with just three minutes to play.
But Mooney headed Russell Slade's men in front before supplying Cox with the second and the 25-year-old wideman was thrilled for the Irishman.
He told Orient Player: "I was delighted for Moons to get his first goal of the season, because he's worked tirelessly in the last few weeks he's been playing and it's great for our front boys to be scoring.
"It was late in the game, but I did think we had one more chance in us. It was a good ball by Lloyd and to be fair he finishes like that in training so it wasn't a surprise when it ended up in the back of the net.
"Then he's nicked the ball in front of the centre half and put it on a plate for me to roll home. It was a nice feeling to get a goal for me too, because I've been in and out of the team recently."
The win made it two on the bounce for the O's, following Saturday's 2-1 success over Shrewsbury, and Cox would love to carry that run on at Carlisle this weekend.
He continued: "It's a lot more positive after two wins and let's continue it now. The bench is looking very strong and the gaffer has a few decisions to make on Saturday now.
"The players who came in did well. Matty [Baudry] at the back did fantastic, Griff put in his shift and Moons has got his goal. Brunty did well up front too."
The trip to Carlisle is the second of three away trips for the O's in a week, but Cox says the O's professionalism in their preparation will stand them in good stead for the challenge.
He added: "We've done it right. We stayed up in Cheltenham on Wednesday night, the hotel we were in had a swimming pool so we had a recovery session there this morning, travelled back home and will be back on that motorway at 9am sharp tomorrow looking for another three points.
"Having another game so quickly could work out well for us because the confidence is there. The front boys are scoring and we look solid at the back so that bodes well."
