Supporters' Club plan a fourth trip to commemorate Orient's war effortBOOKINGS are now being taken for the next O’s Somme trip which is almost two years away!
The reason for such advance notice is due to the extremely high demand for hotel accommodation in northern France, from the many people wishing to visit the First World War battlefields and pay their respects at the cemeteries and memorials in what will be the centenary year of the outbreak of the war.
If the trip is not booked early it will not take place. Leaving the O's on the morning of Friday June 27 the coaches will travel over to France via ferry from Dover on Friday morning June 27 and will return on the evening of Sunday June 29 (a full itinerary will be published nearer the time).
This will be the fourth such trip, and as in previous years visits will be made to the resting places of the three Clapton Orient footballers killed during the Battle of the Somme in 1916 - William Jonas, Richard McFadden and George Scott. The village of Flers will also be visited to enable tributes to be made at the impressive O's memorial.
For the first time everyone will be staying at the Holiday Inn Express hotel in the town of Arras and the trip shall be using the services of Anderson Travel Ltd who are travel partners of the O’s and the Supporters Club. The hotel has reserved rooms for and confirmation of numbers is required as soon as possible.
