NEWS: Comfortable Win For Reserves

4 September 2012

Second string see off Peterborough United in training ground friendly.

AN ORIENT reserve side triumphed 3-1 at Peterborough United on Tuesday afternoon.

Ryan Brunt, Marc Laird and trialist Jaime Peters were all on target as the O's took advantage of their first clear week of the season to give run outs to some members of the squad who haven't featured heavily in the opening games.

Alongside Brunt and Laird, Billy Lobjoit was the third pro involved, as Orient came from behind to see off the Posh at their training ground.

Peteborough scored early through Jonson Clarke-Harris, but Orient were undeterred and levelled before the break thanks to former Ipswich man Peters.

Laird gave Orient the lead after the break, slotting home superbly from the edge of the box following an excellent cut back from Billy Lobjoit.

On-loan Stoke forward Brunt, who netted twice in pre-season, then completed the scoring with Orient's third.

O's assistant manager Kevin Nugent said: "We went a goal down early on, but after that the performance was spot on and what we needed.

"Marc Laird scored a fantastic goal and it was good for him, Ryan and Billy to get minutes because with the hectic schedule we've had so far, and them being involved in the squads, we haven't had the chance to give them a reserve game.

"This was the first clear week we've had and the match has certainly been a worthwhile exercise.
