Defender is overjoyed to sign a new two-year deal with the club and is looking to put injuries behind him next season
ORIENT defender Scott Cuthbert has spoken of his delight at signing a new two-year contract with the club and said the decision was a no-brainer as he put pen-to-paper on Tuesday.
He said: “I’m absolutely delighted to get it all signed and sorted, it’s been something that’s been happening in the background for the last three or four weeks now so I’m delighted to be here for another two years.
“It’s everything here, I get on great with the manager and the coaching staff, the board have been great too. All the players are great and I’ve got some really good friends at this club plus I’m getting married in the summer and my girlfriend loves it here so everything just fits in perfect with the club and I didn’t even have to think twice about signing my new contract.”
Having been a stand-out performer in his first season with the club, Cuthbert played a less prominent role in the recent campaign as he struggled with a hamstring injury in the first half of the season and then after winning his place back in the side, he fractured a bone in his foot at Preston in March but Cuthbert is well on the mend to be fit for pre-season.
“I’m getting there with the injury, there was nothing complicated with it, it was just a fracture so I’m back jogging now and I’ll be working hard this week and next week and then keeping myself ticking over for the summer so I’m fit for pre-season,” he said.
“This year was frustrating having to sit out and watch the team do so well. I’m fortunate enough that the manager has shown faith in me to give me a new contract and I’m looking forward to next season.”
