Orient Business Club

22 August 2013

Brand new community focussed business group created to encourage business growth in the area.

Orient Business Club has been set up by the commercial team at Leyton Orient Football Club with the aim of linking commercial partners with the local business community through a series of regular networking events. These will facilitate and help accelerate the development of informal and potentially rewarding business relationships with like-minded individuals that have an emotional connection with the football club and local community across East London, Essex and beyond.

The free to join business club will also provide opportunities to promote products and services to other members as well as exclusive benefits and discounts offered by Leyton Orient FC and the Orient Business Club partners.

Commercial and Business Development Manager at Leyton Orient Football Club, Tom Jeffes, commented, “The football club plays a significant role in the local community and we wanted to help support businesses in the area by bringing them closer together on a more regular basis.”

The business club has been backed by Walthamstow Council and the Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Corporate Resources, Councillor Mark Rusling remarked, “I'm delighted to be part of the launch of this business club with Leyton Orient. The football club is rooted in its community and this club for local companies is great evidence of that. In the Council, we will do all we can to support Leyton Orient and the businesses in the local area."

The first event has been confirmed as a breakfast networking event on Tuesday 1st October at Leyton Orient’s Matchroom Stadium (7.30am – 10am) and will see Chairman of the O’s and international sports promoter, Barry Hearn, as the special guest speaker who will be discussing various topics of business and sport.

This will be the first of what will be regular events and the club have already secured a main sponsor with Hornchurch based company Fox Tailoring agreeing a 12 month deal to work in partnership with the business club.

John Parrett, owner of Fox Tailoring, is looking forward to a successful and rewarding relationship, commenting, “Football Clubs are now commercial enterprises and we hope we can help unite local businesses with the club, which can only help bring the community closer together. Tom Jeffes and his team have made great strides so far and have great ideas for the future and we’re sure exciting times are ahead with this partnership.”

Orient Business will also seek to support charities and have moved to secure an official charity partner for the first 12 months. ACLT are a charity that promote bone marrow and blood donation with Co-founder and Chief Executive of the charity, Orin Lewis, very pleased with the news stating, “On behalf of the ACLT, I would like to say we are delighted and honoured to be chosen as the charity of choice. Our partnership will enable our lifesaving work of bone marrow, blood and organ donation awareness to be seen and heard by the business community in order to help fast track the opportunity to save many more lives from all ethnic backgrounds.”

The charity is close to the heart of Orin Lewis, who set up the charity with his wife following their own personal loss.

“Having lost our son, Daniel De-Gale, we know the devastation these conditions can have on families so we want to do all we can in Daniel’s name to ensure this important message is delivered to as many people as possible. As a small charity, every opportunity and financial donation we receive really does allow us to make a significant difference, and the support from Leyton Orient and its football and business supporters will go a long way in supporting the ACLT’s work in the UK.”
