BATT: 'We Deserved It'

3 February 2013

New striker pleased with debut

As debuts go, you have to be delighted with that?

It was nice to finish with the three points and ideally I would like to have scored as well but I was happy to contribute to the win which was ultimately, the important thing.

You soon formed a good partnership with Charlie MacDonald; do you feel comfortable playing alongside him up-front?

Yes, we worked a bit on shape in training yesterday, we seemed to link well together right from the start today and that was nice.

You had the ball in the net within the first minute and the side started well didn't they?

From the first whistle, we started on the front foot, we got in their faces and got the ball in behind and in good areas and carried on through the ninety minutes. We deserved to win the game.

Did your move to Orient come suddenly?

Yes, within a few days from when I first heard about the possibility, the move happened. I was ready to go and looking forward to it and I’m happy to come and contribute to the team.

From a personal point of view, what are you hoping to get out of this loan move?

Basically just to play as well as I can, score some goals, get myself match fit and contribute to Leyton Orient’s season as much as possible, I want to do well for the month l’m here and see what happens.

What are your first impressions of the squad?

Really good, as we showed today. To come to Stevenage and pick up the three points from an away game in the manner we did was excellent. The boys welcomed me in really well and I seem to have gelled with the lads quite quickly.  Hopefully, that will continue.

Your contract with Millwall is up at the end of the season?

Yes, I’ve had a lot of injury problems in the past two seasons and haven’t played a lot of football. Hopefully I can get myself back in the shop window and earn myself a contract for next season.

Would you like to make the move permanent if things go well in the next month?

Yes, it’s been a good start so far, I definitely wouldn’t rule it out. I’ve settled in well, the manager has been good to me and the players have been really good to me as well.
