COX: 'We're Buzzing'

9 January 2013

Winger thrilled to book Johnstone's Paint Trophy area final place

ORIENT atoned for the last minute misery they suffered at Hull City with a dose of last minute joy when defeating Yeovil Town on Tuesday night.

David Mooney struck at the death to knock the Glovers out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy and send Orient through to a two-legged area final against Southend United.

It leaves the O's just 180 minutes away from a Wembley date and winger Dean Cox says there's a real feel-good factor around Brisbane Road at the moment.

"We're absolutely buzzing with that one," he beamed. "Players, fans, management, we're all delighted with it and we're all really looking forward to the area final now.

"I celebrated like I had scored the goal, it was an amazing feeling. Scotty put in the cross with his swinger and it's a fantastic header.

"We've gone through all the emotions in the last two games - we were distraught in the dressing room at Hull because we felt we did enough to win that one, but then the coin's turned over last night and it went for us in the last minute."

Cox felt Orient adapted well to deal with difficult opponents on Tuesday night and deserved the win, even when they went down to 10 men due to Anthony Griffith's red card.

He explained: "The first half was quite scrappy, but I think that's down to the way they play. They play the long ball, go for second balls and flick ons.

"We looked determined and then in the second half it opened up for us. We played some nice stuff at times.

"We nicked the goal with 10 men, and then at the end I've rolled Cookie in and he nearly put the icing on the cake with a fantastic strike.

"It's a fantastic result for the club."
