STATS: O's V Cosmos

25 July 2013

A look at the stats from last night's win over our American counterparts

In the end only a disputed penalty separated Leyton Orient from their famous US visitors, and the match stats indicate a closer game than looked likely after Kevin Lisbie put that second-half spot-kick away.

While the hosts took control after David Mooney’s 23rd minute opener, Cosmos came back strongly as Orient’s momentum dipped with the introduction of several younger faces from the bench.

The visitors began to bypass the O’s midfield and won several free-kicks in dangerous areas, although their comeback goal should really have been dealt with by keeper Jamie Jones. Overall, as the shot stats suggest, Orient’s cutting-edge proved decisive.
