Young goalkeeper pens deal with the O’s
The Club are pleased to announce the signature of former West Ham goalkeeper Jake Larkins.
The 19-year-old has put pen to paper on a one year deal with Leyton Orient following his release from the Premier League side.
A product of the youth academy at West Ham, the 6ft 2in stopper featured regularly in the Under 21 Premier League last season for the Hammers, while he also had brief spells on loan with Grays Athletic and Billericay in 2012.
Commenting on the capture, Chief Scout and Goalkeeper Coach, Kevin Dearden, commented, “Jake is someone that I’ve watched personally on a number of occasions and have been impressed with him. I had a good conversation with Martyn Margetson, the Goalkeeper Coach at West Ham and he came highly recommended so we got him in to train with us towards the end of the season and he did very well.”
“The Gaffer, Kev (Nugent) and I liked what we saw and we believe he will be a valuable member of the squad and be able to push Jamie (Jones) for a starting place straight away.”
