NEWS: Management Team Extend Contracts

7 June 2013

RUSSELL SLADE and his management team have signed contract extensions committing their futures to Leyton Orient until the end of the 2015/16 season.

Slade, his assistant Kevin Nugent and goalkeeper coach Kevin Dearden have agreed two year extensions to their deals, which were due to expire at the end of the coming season.

52-year-old Slade joined the Club in April 2010 and masterminded an escape from relegation over the final six games of the season before guiding the O’s to seventh place in League One and taking Arsenal to an FA Cup fifth round replay during his first full campaign.

Although the 2011/12 season was less successful, Orient bounced back with a second seventh place finish in three years – the Club’s highest for a generation – last time out and Slade hopes that his squad can build on the progress made over the previous 12 months.

“I’m delighted to be extending my contract with the Club, Slade said. “I feel we’ve made huge progress on and off the field in my time here and we have some positive foundations in place to build on for next season.

“With the improvements that have gone in to the backroom team and the training facilities, there’s a chance for Orient to push on now and challenge for a place in the Championship and it would be a magnificent story if we could achieve that.

“I’m equally pleased to be having the two Kevins alongside me as well. We work well as a team and they both bring their own qualities to the table which help make my job easier and give the Club a better chance of success.

“We have the core of a successful squad from last season and we know which areas we want to strengthen to make that extra step.”
