LISBIE: 'We Want The Play-Offs'

4 March 2013

Striker setting sights on a top six finish

AFTER missing seven weeks of action through injury, Kevin Lisbie announced his return in spectacular fashion as he netted the third on Saturday against Bournemouth.

The veteran striker, who recently signed a contract extension with the club, had been missing from the O’s line-up since the 1-0 victory over Yeovil on January 8 in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, but took only nine minutes to return to his scoring ways after replacing David Mooney in the second half at the weekend.

With 11 games to play, Lisbie will be hoping to add to his ten goals for the season in the remaining fixtures and is keen to push on and make the play-offs.

He said: “It was a massive performance. We needed to win that game to give ourselves a chance of getting in the play-offs which we want to do now.

“We’ve shown over the season that we can compete with the sides at the top of the table, it’s just the sides below us that we can’t seem to beat at times but hopefully this will spur us on now.

“I’m absolutely knackered! But I’ve obviously been out for seven weeks. It was a frustrating time having to sit out of big games.

“We’ve got four quality strikers now with Moons [David Mooney], Charlie [MacDonald], Batty [Shaun Batt] and myself all pushing for a place which is only good for the team.”
