Youngster talks about his debut, signing pro with the O's and his experiences training with the first team squad
ORIENT midfielder Harry Lee has given his first interview after signing his first pro contract at the club he has been with since he was an eight-year-old.
After being in the squad on a number of occasions towards the end of last season, Lee was awarded with a professional contract alongside De’Reece Vanderhyde and is over the moon.
He said: “It’s an amazing feeling to sign my first pro deal so I just want to kick on now and get going with pre-season. My heart has always been with the club and I love it here.
“My debut was the best feeling ever, my legs felt like jelly when I first ran on but then I got my first touch and it was just amazing. I just want to keep progressing now with the first team training and hopefully get some more games under my belt.”
Lee caught the eye in his ten minute appearance against Oldham on the final day of the season and he is confident in his own ability.
“I like to get on the ball, I’m a hardworker and I like a tackle so it’s been great being involved with the first team over the last few months. The tempo is a lot quicker and obviously there’s some quality players in there. I’ve been quite close to Dean Cox and Lloyd James who have been helping me and giving me advice. It’s been helpful too to have other lads like De’Reece [Vanderhyde] and Charlie [Grainger] around you in the squad going through the same experiences,” he said.
