Last Thursday afternoon saw Leyton Orient support one of their main sponsors EA Sports by hosting a special fundraising football match on the Brisbane Road pitch.
SpecialEffects work closely with EA Sports and are a charity that aims to enable anyone, whatever their disability, to enjoy video games and leisure technology. They give disabled people the means to participate, helping to kick-start rehabilitation, improve their self-esteem and, most importantly, inclusion.
The match was for the SpecialEffect EA SPORTS Ambassadors Cup and saw a Special Effects Ambassadors Team defeat a SpecialEffect Rangers side by four goals to one. The game was being used as a fundraiser with participants being sponsored to play which raised around £1,500.
SpecialEffect Ambassador Alex Chapman who is captain of the Ambassadors team said
"It’s an absolute privilege to be a Special Effect Ambassador and it was great to lead the teams out at a professional football club’s stadium whilst raising vital funds and awareness for this game changing charity.”
Dr Mick Donegan, Founder and CEO of SpecialEffect said, "I'm immensely grateful to Leyton Orient and EA SPORTS for their support for this event. It's all the more special as the participants had fun, which is exactly what the charity is bringing to the people we're helping."
