ORIENT Academy Director Andy Edwards was delighted with his side’s perseverance as they overcame AFC Totton in the FA Youth Cup.
“It was a difficult game that we fully expected but I thought the boys deserve full credit,” said Edwards. “We knew they would be difficult to break down and get men behind the ball but we defended very well and were patient in possession and thankfully took those chances when they did come.
“We didn’t panic which was pleasing and the lads stuck to it. It crosses your mind it might not be your night as we missed several good chances in the first half but thankfully they only really had a couple and Charlie Grainger was excellent when called upon.
“We’ve worked hard on our passages of play in and around the box and we have some small players with fantastic technical ability and I thought we displayed that with three very well taken goals.”
