Charity Partners Enjoy The Day

2 April 2014

Local hospice partners raise £££ at the O's

Our charity partners Haven House Children’s Hospice in Woodford and St. Joseph’s Hospice in Hackney were present at the recent League One game versus Swindon, each having volunteers collecting donations for these very worthy causes but ultimately sharing the proceeds on the day.

Halita Obineche, Corporate Fundraiser at St. Joseph’s was pleased with the generosity of the fans on the day. “We jointly raised and will share £586.68 which is tremendous and we are so grateful for the club to accommodate us today. We have an excellent relationship with Orient going back many years and I’m really pleased to hear that David Mooney will be popping in to see us again next month. It’s a wonderful gesture by him and means he has been visiting the hospice for three seasons – fantastic.”

As part of the day, each hospice was also asked to invite family members or friends of those using the hospices to be the pre-match flag bearers and a lucky few to take penalties against Theo the mascot at half-time.

“The children had a lovely time,” said Kate Donoghue, Community and Events assistant at Haven House. “It was thrilling for them and a special day out for their families. We’re grateful to Howard (Gould), Rob (Noble) and all at Orient for organising the day and of course to the generous fans who donated.”
