End of Season Awards Dinner

Sponsors and supporters turn out at the prestigious Dorchester Hotel for celebratory evening

Almost 400 people were present for the end of season event at the Ballroom in the Dorchester on Park Lane for an evening of fine dining, comedy, awards presentations and fundraising on Monday evening.

Guests were treated to a Laurent Perrier champagne reception on arrival before the call for lunch by the Master of Ceremonies for the evening, John McDonald. Chairman Barry Hearn welcomed guests and introduced a highlights video of the season so far before Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber said grace ahead of the meal.


A superb three course meal was served before a game of Heads and Tails with the three winners taking home a pair of tickets to the FA Cup Final, a huge jeroboam of Laurent Perrier champagne and a £50 cash prize.


The first comedian, Tim Clark then took to the stage before Barry returned to host the auction with some superb prizes up for grabs backed up with fantastic support from within the room which saw a number of signed shirts going for between £800 and £2,000 each, a tailor made suit from Fox Tailoring for £800 and a five star holiday in Thailand fetching £2,000. The star item was a pair of tickets for the Froch v Groves II boxing match at Wembley Stadium which saw five lucky people in the room bidding £3,000 for a pair each.


Orient fan and comedian Bob Mills took to the stage and gave a highly entertaining performance before the finale of the evening, the awards presentations which saw some club sponsors involved in the presentation of the awards. Peter Brown of Hosts International who sponsor the Academy presented Charlie Grainger with his Youth Team Player of the Year and Nigel Travis of Dunkin’ Brands presented Dean Cox with his goal of the season award, which was chosen by attendee’s on the night. The winners of the annual awards were also rewarded a bottle of champagne which were provided by our champagne partner for the evening, Laurent Perrier.  


The fundraising on the evening raised almost £40,000 for the Academy and everyone at Leyton Orient Football Club would like to thank those who contributed to making the evening the success that it was.
