O's legend remembers Orient career ahead of his return for Legends tournamennt

Barry Silkman, one of the game's most colourful football agents, recalls his Leyton orient connections as he joins the West Ham squad for the Elite Legends cup at Brisbane Road on May 18.

‘Silky’ loved his time at Brisbane Road as he recalls: “I had four years there, the last three as player, coach and assistant manager under Frank Clarke and loved the club. There were great supporters, great staff and will always have some terrific memories from those years.” In all Silkman made 140 league appearances, collecting 14 goals.

West Ham, was his first club. He recalls:  “From 15 to nearly 17 I was at West Ham, and then I went back for two weeks when I was 22 before Hereford bought me.  Ron Greenwood was manager, John Lyall was assistant.  I thought the world of both of them, they were lovely people and brilliant at their job.”
