SLADE: 'We've Got Momentum Again'

17 April 2014

O's boss keen for another three points at Crawley

O’s boss Russell Slade is determined to build on the momentum from the 5-1 thumping of Gillingham last weekend as his side travel to Crawley on Good Friday.

“It [the Gillingham game] was a performance that was coming. I thought we did really well at Sheffield United the week before where we kept the ball and controlled things for long periods,” said Slade.

“It helped to get off to a good start and get an early goal which we haven’t done in recent weeks and from there we seized the momentum.

“There were some really good goals from our point of view. The strikers scored, we passed the ball well and our movement was very good but it has gone now. It gives us some momentum again though and something to build on.”

The O’s will be looking to bury the curse of Crawley who have been something of bogey side as Orient are yet to take a point in previous encounters between the two and Slade is expecting a tough test in Sussex.

“Crawley will be a tough game, there are a mid-table side as the table shows and the points don’t lie at this stage. I think they have a good shape about them and keep things very tight; when they get beaten it’s only ever by the odd goal. They’re very competitive and have won their last two games so they will go into it in confident mood.”

The treatment room has been quieter this week after Romain Vincelot returned to start against the Gills.

“Romain came through very well. He had a low key training session on Monday, his foot is still not 100 per cent but we are pleased he got those minutes.

“Marvin Bartley is the only long term injury worry at this time, there’s one or two other niggles but we’ll see on those.”
