An Orient XI travel Farnborough this evening (Monday) for a friendly.
New signing Jay Simpson started his first game in an Orient shirt at Farnborough as he was one of five pro players on show in Hampshire in an O's XI dominated by scholars.
Orient dominated the early possession but chances were of a premium with the only early opportunity almost coming when Simpson almost slipped in Kashket but he was thwarted by the goalkeeper - a certain Charlie Grainger on loan from the O's.
It was the visitors though that had the best chance just after the half hour mark when Josh Webb rattled the bar after Gary Woods made an excellent initial save from Joe Taylor.
The O's 'keeper had to be alert a minute later when he saved well down low to deny substitute Phil Page and soon after the Farnborough forward should have made it 1-0 but prodded wide from a free-kick.
Kashket blazed one over Grainger's bar as the half drew to a close but it remained honours even at the interval.
Sandro Semedo was the first to test Grainger after the break with a low drive but it was Sam Ling who came closest to grabbing the lead on the hour mark when he hit a rasping drive just wide.
Orient looked comfortable but the pace and power of Page still posed a threat and he rattled the woodwork on the break as Woods was tested for the first time in the half.
The young O's side had plenty of pace going forward but their final ball let down at times as Grainger was only really called upon to sweep up and clear the ball with his feet.
Nonetheless it was a good workout for the likes of Marvin Bartley who got another 80 minutes under his belt as the season draws ever closer.
