O's manager desperate for a fit squad to choose from
ORIENT manager Fabio Liverani was left bemoaning the situation with injuries as his ravaged squad fell to a disappointing 2-0 defeat at Barnsley.
“Today was disappointing. We were a long way off the performance of last week," he said.
“The key for us now is to get through the next two games because then we have a 10 game break to get injured players back and also we can look at the transfer window. Injuries are a big problem. We lost Plasmati with a hamstring problem after 10 minutes and that changed the match. Darius Henderson has a new problem now and we have nine players out now which is a big issue.
"There is a lot to work on and we've taken a step backwards today. The language is not a barrier, the mistakes are nothing to do with the language. We cannot let in goals like we did.
"We can't use the injuries as an excuse though, we have a big game on Friday which is like a Champions League Final for us and the players will give it their all.
"Thanks to the supporters who travelled today, we appreciate it. Looking at the table things are obviously not good but there is also not a huge gap between the bottom and mid table so we can get out of it.
"I can accept the fans booing the players and the staff at half-time as the first half was poor but we were much better in the second half."
