Young O's continue great start to pre-season
Youth Team Reports
Charlton 0-3 Orient
Andy Edwards' U18s got their pre-season campaign off to a flyer with an excellent performance at Charlton.
Though the scoreline would suggest it was a pre-season stroll, it was a closely contested affair with Orient working hard for their victory.
An own goal set the O's on their way in the first period when a Freddy Moncur corner was turned in by an Addicks defender before Ben Card kept the O's in front with a fine save before the interval.
The O's extended their lead in the second period through a neat finish by Scott Kashket after good build up play before the game was sealed after Kane Adams cleared a ball into the path of Victor Adeboyejo who challenged a Charlton defender who turned the ball into his own net.
ORIENT: Ben Card (Sam Sargent), Myles Judd, Jack Humphrey (Michael Clarke 45), Aron Pollock, Kane Adams, Jake Burgess, Montel Agyemang (Sam Ling 45), Fred Moncur, Nick Brown (Shola Oladipo 60), Shola Oladipo (Kashket 45), Victor Adeboyejo
Orient 4-2 Cambridge Utd
Having netted three times in their first outing, the O's went one better when they took on Cambridge United with a young squad.
The young O's dominated the early exchanges and penalties from Shola Oladipo and Victor Adeboyejo set them on their way before a free-kick from Freddy Moncur and a tidy finish from trialist Sam Alderton saw them race into a 4-0 lead.
It provided a good opportunity for a number of the U16s to get on and impress. Though the U's pulled a couple back, it was an entertaining half and the O's did well to hold on for a win.
ORIENT: Sam Sargent, Myles Judd (Sam Alderton 45), Michael Clarke, Jack Humphrey (Aron Pollock 45), Kane Adams (Sam Telling 60), Sam Ling, Montel Agyemang (Freddy Moncur 45), Harry Andic, Nick Brown (Patrick Adamson 45), Victor Adebojo (Tristan Abrahams 45), Shola Oladipo (Jonathan Burtonshaw 45)
