When Tyler Short visited the Leyton Orient changing room prior to the game with Swindon recently, he got a lot more than expected!
Tyler was the O’s mascot for the day and as part of the package, a pre-match visit to the changing room is included to meet the players and have the customary photo shoot. But what Tyler didn’t know was that his dad Paul had contacted the club with a special request. “It’s well known that Coxy likes to frequently change his boots and so I contacted Howard Gould, (Community Liaison Officer) in the hope that he could ask Dean if he had an old pair Tyler could have. He’s mad about the O’s and Coxy is his favourite player so when Dean then took out a pair of boots, signed them and handed them over, Tyler was completely gobsmacked!
“I also want to say thanks to all the lads as they were absolutely brilliant and obviously to Howard for sorting it out. It made Tyler’s day so much more special”.
Although the result didn’t go the O’s way, Tyler said afterwards, “I want to put the boots in a glass case in my bedroom. They are my most treasured possession”.
And Coxy had the final word. “Not a problem at all”, he said, “I love giving and always donate my old boots or give them away. To make Tyler’s day is great”.
