Striker hoping to build on solid startO’s striker Paul McCallum admits the hard work will continue as they head to Spain for their pre-season training camp today (Tuesday).
Along with several training sessions, Orient will also play two games, with one against Championship side Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
And McCallum, who netted in the O’s pre-season opener against Braintree Town, knows they will be worked hard during the seven-day camp in Malaga.
“We know it is going to be hot and we know we are going to be worked hard while we are out there, but everyone is looking forward to it,” McCallum told leytonorient.com
“The games out there are going to be a test and we will be able to gauge where we are and what shape that puts us in ahead of the new season.
“It is just us and the management team while we are away and we are already bonding well as a team. We have all got on really well in the first few weeks I have been here and this trip will help us even more.”
Even though McCallum’s goal against Braintree on Friday was in vain as the O’s lost out, the 21-year-old believed there were plenty of positive signs for Ian Hendon’s side.
“It was disappointing not to win but I thought the boys performed well and it is all about getting used to playing with your new team-mates,” he added. “It was good to get the first 45 minutes under our belts.
“It is always good to score in every game you play and that’s what all strikers try to do, whether it is in pre-season or in the regular season.”
