Midfielder and defender pen deals

Leyton Orient have completed deals for defender Sean Clohessy and midfielder Sammy Moore, subject to Football League approval.

The duo have signed two-year deals with the O’s and join having had spells with Colchester and AFC Wimbledon respectively.

Clohessy, 28, enjoyed three seasons with Southend United in League Two, becoming a permanent fixture of their defence in that time.

He went on to join Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock in 2013, before making the move back to England with Colchester United – signing a two-year deal last summer.

Clohessy was a regular up until March, before coming to an agreement to end his time with the U’s last month.

The right back has also had spells with Gillingham and Salisbury City having progressed through the youth ranks at Arsenal.

Moore spent five seasons with AFC Wimbledon, helping them earn promotion from the Conference Premier.

The 27-year-old became a regular at Kingsmeadow, making over 150 appearances for the Dons in that time and winning the Player of the Year award in the 2011-12 season.

The midfielder came through the youth ranks at Ipswich Town and during his time with the Tractor Boys spent a period on loan at Brentford.

He joined then Conference Premier side Stevenage Borough in 2008, before linking up with Dover Athletic.

On the signings, head coach Ian Hendon told www.leytonorient.com: “Both Sean and Sammy are very good signings for us.

“They have plenty of experience at this level and I believe they can both slot in with the minimum of fuss and for me, that’s great.

“It’s been non stop for me since I was appointed and it is nice to be able to confirm our first two new additions to the squad.

“Sean is a great crosser of the ball and will add a lot to our play going forward, while also being a good defender. For me when he became available it was no-brainer.

“Sammy has been a great player for AFC Wimbledon over the years and he will give the team plenty of energy. He doesn’t stop running and again he has the experience of this level to do well for us.”
Interviews with both players will be available on Orient Player and You Tube shortly.
