Young O's defender reflects on call-upThe O’s Academy is continuing to produce the next crop of young talent as 14-year-old defender Brian Galach was selected to feature in a recent under-15 training camp for his native Poland.
The Chingford Foundation schoolboy is the latest in a long line of Academy players to feature for their country, and Galach now hopes to have shown enough at the training camp to earn a spot in the Poland under-15 squad which will go to Dublin next month to face Ireland.
“It was a really enjoyable experience,” said Galach. “The training sessions were good and of a high intensity. Although I didn’t know anyone else on the camp before I went, I soon got to know the other players and I have made some good friends.
“I always hoped I would get this opportunity and hopefully I have done enough to be able to go to Ireland next month as part of the squad – that would be great.”
It has always been an aim of Galach – who has played at every age group for the O’s since under-nines – to feature for his country, and he spoke of his delight when he first heard the news of his call up to the training camp.
“My dad got the phone call about the camp and I was really pleased when I found out,” he added.
“It was my first experience of a national training camp and hopefully I can be involved in a few more.”
