PREVIEW: Hendon on tomorrow's trip to Crawley Town

9 October 2015

Orient Head Coach on Crawley test

O’s Head Coach Ian Hendon is hoping they can break their Crawley hoodoo as the two sides meet at the Checkatrade.com Stadium tomorrow.

Orient are yet to taste victory at the home of the Red Devils in three previous visits, and Hendon is eager to bring that bad run to an end, and secure back-to-back league wins following last weekend’s 3-1 victory over Notts County.

“I have been told we haven’t got a good record against them but records are there to be broken and if we perform to anywhere near where we have been I am sure we will get a positive result,” Hendon told leytonorient.com

“It will be a tough game. I have watched them twice - at Notts County and on Tuesday night against Southend - but every game in this division is tough and we have done our work on them and we are now looking forward to the game.”

Hendon boosted his attacking options with the arrival of John Marquis on loan today, and hopes the striker can regain his form from his loan spell at Gillingham, which saw him net eight goals in 21 league games.

“We were trying to get it done last week but for one reason or another it didn’t go through,"he added. "Thankfully we got a good result last weekend, but we needed another striker and we are looking forward to working with him.

“He has played at a higher level in the past couple of years and had a good spell at Gillingham last season so if he brings us anything like that he is going to be a good addition.”

Sammy Moore is a doubt for the O’s having picked up an injury last week against Notts County, while a couple of others have picked up niggles which has meant they haven’t had a full week of training ahead of tomorrow’s game.

“Sammy Moore hasn’t trained all week and there are one or two others that have missed a couple of days here and there but we have come together now and it is all positive for Saturday,” he said.
