NEWS: Hendon and Cox shortlisted for League Two awards

1 September 2015

Head Coach and player nominated for League Two monthly awards

Head Coach Ian Hendon and midfielder Dean Cox have both been shortlisted for the Sky Bet League Two manager and player of the month awards for August.

Hendon and the O's have maintained their 100 per cent record in League Two with five wins from five, scoring 13 goals and conceding just three in the process.

Orient have overcome Barnet (2-0), Dagenham & Redbridge (3-1), Stevenage (3-0), Newport County (3-2) and Bristol Rovers (2-0) over the month, and Cox, the longest serving player at the Club, has also played his part.

As well as scoring a fine free-kick against Dagenham and a neat finish against Newport County, the 28-year-old has also assisted a goal in every game, meaning he has played a part in seven of the O's 13 goals in the month.

Hendon will be up against Portsmouth's Paul Cook, Plymouth Argyle's Derek Adams and Gareth Ainsworth of Wycombe Wanderers for the managerial award, while 'Coxy' faces competition from Barry Corr (Cambridge United), Jabo Ibehre (Carlisle United) and Aaron Pierre (Wycombe Wanderers).

The judging panel for the awards comprises of Sky Sports’ Football League expert Don Goodman; Football League Head of Communications John Nagle; League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery.

The winners of the awards will be announced on Friday.
