U18 REPORT: MK Dons 3-3 Leyton Orient

23 September 2015

O's battle back to secure point

Two goals in the last five minutes saw Orient’s under-18s side come from 3-1 down to pick up a point at MK Dons.

Christian Owusu had put the O’s in front at half time, but the hosts scored three second half goals to put themselves in the box seat.  However, the impressive Henry Ochieng pulled one back and then Victor Adeboyejo held his nerve to slot home a last-minute penalty to seal a share of the spoils.

Andy Edwards’ side had got off to a strong start as they looked to press MK Dons. That worked in the early stages and Orient created a couple of opportunities without breaking the deadlock.

The O’s did break find the breakthrough though and it came as Aron Pollock’s ball through found Christian Owusu who kept up his impressive goalscoring form as he slotted home from 15 yards with 20 minutes on the clock.

MK Dons started to come into the game after going behind, but Orient remained in front at the break.

The hosts started the second period strongly and Orient were below par. Substitute Adeboyejo could have doubled the visitors lead but from six yards out he headed Myles Judd’s ball across wide.

MK Dons made the most of that miss as they went up the other end and capitalised on a defensive mistake to restore parity.

Two goals in quick succession for the hosts saw Orient staring down the barrel of a 3-1 defeat, however, they received a lifeline six minutes from time when Owusu provided a good ball to impressive substitute Ochieng and he finished well from 15 yards out.

That rejuvenated the O’s and in the closing stages Steven Alzate weaved his way into the box and was brought down and the referee pointed to the spot. The pressure was on Adeboyejo to slot home, and he kept his nerve to secure a point for his side.

This weekend the Orient under-18s make the trip to face Stevenage.

ORIENT: Sam Sargeant, Myles Judd, Sam Telling, Michael Clark, Dan Happe, Sam Alderson (Josh Koroma), Charley Barker, Pat Adamson (Victor Adeboyejo), Steven Alzate, Christian Owusu, Aron Pollock (Henry Ochieng).
