MATCH PREVIEW: Leyton Orient v Dagenham & Redbridge

15 April 2016

All the information ahead of tomorrow's home encounter with the Daggers

Leyton Orient will be looking for their first win in five games when they take on local rivals Dagenham & Redbridge at the Matchroom Stadium.

The O’s lost out 3-0 last weekend against Barnet, after John Akinde netted a double and a deflected Sam Togwell effort secured victory for the Bees.

Going into the Daggers encounter Orient currently sit in 11th place in the League Two table, but just two points separates them and AFC Wimbledon, who occupy the final Play-Off spot.

Dagenham & Redbridge come into the game needing a win to maintain their hopes of Football League survival.

Last time out the Daggers lost 1-0 to Luton Town, with Pelly Ruddock scoring the only goal of the game as John Still’s side suffered defeat.

In the reverse fixture, Orient came out on top 3-1 with first half goals from Paul McCallum and Lloyd James putting them in the box seat.

Dean Cox added a third with a fine free-kick, before Jamie Cureton netted a consolation for the hosts, who were then managed by former O Wayne Burnett.

Dagenham & Redbridge booked their place in the second round after a dramatic penalty shoot-out success – creating a new record for the longest ever spot-kick showdown in English senior football competitions.

Sam Williams had headed Dagenham in front midway through the second half, before David Mooney equalised two minutes from time to set up the penalty spectacle. An incredible 27 spot-kicks were scored in a row with every player managing to net, meaning some were forced to test their nerve again.

Finally though, it was Orient defender Ben Chorley, ironically the club’s regular penalty taker, who saw Dagenham keeper James Shea save his second penalty.
