REACTION: Hunt - 'We are devastated'

11 April 2016

Defender reflects on disappointing maiden visit to the Hive

Orient defender Nicky Hunt admitted the whole team were devastated with Saturday’s 3-0 loss at Barnet.

The O’s fell behind to John Akinde’s first half header, before Lloyd James missed a penalty in the early stages of the second period.

Shortly after, Barnet doubled their lead through Sam Togwell and Akinde doubled his tally for the afternoon to seal a disappointing day at the office for Kevin Nolan’s side.

“We are frustrated more than anything,” Hunt told Orient PlayerHD.

“The chances we created first half was more than enough to come in 2-1 up at the break. The lads have been in the dressing room a long time and they are devastated with the result because we came here looking for the three points.

“It’s not worked out that way but luckily we have got five more games to rectify the situation we are in and to get in the Play-Offs.”

The penalty miss came at a crucial time for the visitors, and the defender added: “It seems to be the way with us over the past few weeks with penalties. Football is a funny old game and it is a cruel game at times.

“If we score that we go on to dominate the rest of the game but two or three minutes later they are up the other end and making it 2-0.”
