PREVIEW: Nolan aiming to maintain O's undefeated run on the road

19 February 2016

Orient player-manager wary of confident hosts

Player-manager Kevin Nolan may be frustrated by his side’s home form at the minute, but hopes to carry on his unbeaten run away from home with success as Notts County tomorrow.

Since taking over the helm at Orient, Nolan has won both away games – Wycombe Wanderers (2-0) and Portsmouth (1-0) – and hopes to make it three out three at Meadow Lane.

“It is going to be a tough one as they had a fantastic win in the week so they are going to be flying high,” Nolan told Orient PlayerHD.

“They have got some good players and some that I know really well. I am looking forward to going there and putting what was so wrong last week all right this week.”

He added: "At home maybe the lads feel the pressure and that is something I have to look at when we are next preparing for a home game, but at the moment our away form has been fantastic.

“We have beaten both Wycombe and Portsmouth but we will be going to a strong Notts County side who have had some good results at their place against the top sides so it is not going to be an easy one and with the win they have had in the week their confidence is going to be high.

“We have got to go there and more than match them and hopefully our qualities can shine through.”

Academy Director Andy Edwards was part of Nolan’s coaching staff last weekend against Northampton and will once more be with the first team this weekend.  Nolan sees Edwards as a valuable asset to have at the Club.

“When I came in I have got to know Andy and the way he sees the game,” Nolan remarked.

“He is a good asset to have on the bench or up above so he can give us that panoramic view of everything which is going on and hopefully give us that extra edge and that little bit of help because I am now on the pitch.”
