PREVIEW: Nolan aiming to end week on a high

29 January 2016

O's player-manager hoping to maintain 100 per cent record with the U's in town

Kevin Nolan is hoping to get one over an old adversary when his side face Shaun Derry’s Cambridge United tomorrow.

The O’s player-manager has picked up two wins from his two games in charge, and while hoping to make it a third, Nolan knows the U’s will not be making it easy for his side.

“At home it is going to be difficult because some teams are going to show us some respect. You are never going to get an easy ride and it is something we are going to have to get used to,” Nolan told Orient PlayerHD.

“It is something we can work on as a team on the training pitch and we are hoping to get the right ingredients to make sure we can produce another good performance. If we work the ball a lot better than I think we can open up teams with the quality we have.”

Nolan and Derry have had countless battles out on the pitch, but will now be locking horns as managers, though Nolan can still have an impact on the field.

“Shaun is a great fella and we have a lot of mutual friends. I have had a chat with him this week and it was nice to receive a call from him wishing me luck and to look forward to having a chat after the game,” he added.

“We have had some good battles on the pitch over the years and I know we are definitely in for one of them tomorrow.

“I am really looking forward to it, and though we are both on the touchline, there is one thing which I can do and that is go over that touchline. I am looking forward to seeing him but I hope he will be a little unhappier come tomorrow evening.”
