PREVIEW: McAnuff keen for Orient to cement Play-Off place

29 January 2016

'Now is when it really matters', says O's midfielder

Orient midfielder Jobi McAnuff believes now is the time to turn the screw and cement their place in the League Two Play-off places.

The O’s moved back into the top-seven following Tuesday’s 1-0 home win against Newport County, and with Cambridge United the visitors to the Matchroom Stadium tomorrow, the 34-year-old is keen for Orient to build on back-to-back wins since the appointment of Kevin Nolan as player-manager.

“We want to put  a good run together to try and get a little bit of distance and cement our place in the Play-Offs and create a little gap, but everyone is in the same boat really,” he told OrientPlayer HD.

“You win a couple of games and you will move up a place or two. Now it is about finding that consistency between now and the end of the season.

“This is when it really matters. We have put ourselves in a reasonable position after the new year and now is when you can make that big move and get to where you want to. We have just got to keep our heads down and keep getting the results.”

Tomorrow’s test against the U’s will be their third game in the space of seven days, which can take its toll on the body. However, McAnuff hopes they have found the right balance between recovery and training in the build-up.

“It’s about recovering in between the games and getting the load right,” he added.

“It is a tough schedule but fortunately it’s two home games, which is a massive boost when you are playing that many games. The balance has been good so far and now it is about making sure you are ready for the game.”
