HESSENTHALER: 'It was a good exercise for both teams'

Manager reflects on Gillingham performance
O's boss Andy Hessenthaler was pleased with their showing against League One outfit Gillingham, despite the game ending in disappointing fashion with the injury picked up by Gillingham's Lee Martin.
Orient lead 2-0 thanks to goals from Jordan Bowery and Jay Simpson, but with just under 10 minutes to go, Martin fell awkwardly off the pitch and early signs suggest he has broken and dislocated his ankle.
Hessenthaler's squad had been decimated by a sickness bug throughout the week, seeing the likes of Robbie Weir, Liam Kelly, Callum Kennedy and Sean Clohessy all miss out yesterday.
However, the manager was pleased with the depth of the squad, and was impressed by the performance of skipper for the day Nigel Atangana, and feels the depth the O's currently have is something they will need over the course of the season if they wish to enjoy a successful season.
