OLD BOYS: Which ex-Orient players could be lining up against the O's this season?

22 June 2016

A look over potential league encounters with former O's

As with every season, the O’s will come up against a number of former players over the campaign and here we focus on some ex Orient players we will be potentially pitting our wits against.

First up in the former O’s category is Carlisle duo Nicky Adams and Jabo Ibehre, and Orient could line-up against them on September 10 at Brunton Park and February 4, 2017 here at the Matchroom Stadium.

Adams featured on loan for the O’s in six league games from then parent club Leicester City in 2010, while striker Ibehre came through the youth set up in E10 and was part of the Orient squad which won promotion from League Two in the 2005-06 season.

Yeovil Town and ex-Orient loanee Ryan Dickson head to E10 on September 17 and Orient could welcome back defender Gary Sawyer with Plymouth Argyle when the O’s host the Pilgrims on September 27. The O's then travel to Home Park on February 14.

Luton Town have a former O in the shape of defender Scott Cuthbert, who made 160 appearances in four years with Orient. In addition to that they have former O’s coaches Kevin Dearden and Kevin Nugent amongst their backroom staff. Orient are due to face the Hatters on October 15 at home, and April 15 at Kenilworth Road.

Between November 22 and 26 Orient will potentially face four former players with the O’s hosting Lloyd James, Robbie Simpson and their new Exeter team-mates, before last season’s skipper Mathieu Baudry and ex-loanee John Marquis could line up against the O’s for Doncaster Rovers on November 26.  The respective return fixtures are on January 2, 2017 and March 18.

Crawley Town and Jimmy Smith head to Orient for a Boxing Day encounter and the O’s visit the Broadfield Stadium on March 25.

The O’s first encounter against Cambridge United is on December 31 at the Matchroom Stadium, where ex-defender Elliot Omozusi currently features, and the reverse encounter sees Orient head to the Abbey Stadium on April 8.
