Youngster signs contract with the O'sThe club are delighted to confirm striker Tristan Abrahams has signed his first professional contract.
The 17-year-old has been rewarded for his fine form this season for the youth team and has signed an initial two-year deal.
Abrahams has netted 18 goals to help the O’s to top spot in the Youth Alliance South East Division as well as progress to the FA Youth Cup Third Round and appeared on the bench for the first team in the Checkatrade Trophy encounter at Brighton.
The striker was naturally delighted to sign his first contract, telling leytonorient.com: “It has been a crazy season, everything has moved so fast in terms of the good form and goals.
“To get a professional contract is a dream come true and something I have been working towards since I joined the club at the age of 14.
“It couldn’t have come at a better time having scored a hat-trick in the Youth Cup win at Poole Town.”
Abrahams’ deal is another strong commitment from the club to invest in its highly-successful academy, with Sam Sargeant, Aron Pollock, Freddy Moncur, Josh Koroma and Steven Alzate all signing professional contracts in the last six months.
“Seeing a number of the lads around me earn professional contracts has only made me more motivated to succeed and now the challenge for me is to break in to the first team as soon as possible and try to get a few appearances under my belt.
“I was in and around the first team for the Brighton Checkatrade Trophy game and it was great to be involved at such a nice stadium even though I didn’t come on. It is definitely something I hope to build on.”
