PREVIEW: Colchester United v Leyton Orient

11 November 2016

All the information and team news ahead of the O's visit to the Weston Homes Community Stadium

The O’s make the short trip to Colchester United tomorrow eyeing three points in a bid to move out of the League Two relegation places.

In the last week the O’s have exited both the FA Cup with a defeat at Sheffield United last weekend, and the Checkatrade Trophy after a 1-0 loss at Brighton & Hove Albion where a number of the club’s youngsters impressed.

Alberto Cavasin will be hoping his side can bounce back to winning ways in the league, having last tasted victory in a 3-1 win at Hartlepool United on October 22.

Colchester head into the game on the back of eight game winless run in League Two, which stretches back to September 10 when the U’s picked up victory over Blackpool 3-2.

John McGreal’s side have won three of their seven home games, which have come against Cambridge United (2-0), Grimsby Town (3-2) and Blackpool (3-2) and find themselves in 18th spot in the table.

TEAM NEWS

O’s boss Alberto Cavasin is hoping to have Tom Parkes, Yvan Erichot and Ollie Palmer available for selection.

Parkes was forced off in Sunday’s FA Cup defeat at Sheffield United with an ankle injury along with Palmer (dead leg), while Erichot has been absent after picking up a groin injury.

Jens Janse is a doubt for the game having come off with a shoulder injury in Tuesday’s Checkatrade Trophy loss at Brighton and the fixture is likely to come too soon for Ulrich Nnomo as he continues his recovery from an ankle injury.

BETTING (correct at the time of writing)

The O’s are 11/5 outsiders for the trip to Colchester tomorrow, with the U’s 6/5 to take all three points. A draw can be backed at 12/5.

Former U Gavin Massey is 7/1 to score the first goal against his former club tomorrow, while Ollie Palmer and Jay Simpson are available at 6/1.

Two of the O’s away victories this season have come from a 2-1 scoreline and the  same outcome tomorrow can be backed at 10/1.
