REACTION: Cavasin - 'We lost control of the game'

29 October 2016

O's boss disappointed with overall display following Alex defeat

O’s manager Alberto Cavasin was frustrated by his side’s lack of chances in the 2-0 home loss to Crewe Alexandra.

First half goals from George Cooper and Harry Davis were enough to seal the loss, and the 60-year-old was left disappointed with the below-par performance.

“When you lose you are sad. The performance was good for the first 20 minutes, but you do not win games with just 20 minute performances,” he told leytonorient.com.

“We then conceded the goals and lost control of the game and caused very little concern to our opponents. Even in our 20 minute spell of good play we failed to create chances.”

While frustrated with the showing from his side, Cavasin knows there is little time to rest on their laurels.

“The players were understandably down, but we have to work on the areas where we need to improve,” he added. “Sides tend to come here and make the most of their chances and the players know this is happening too much.

The result saw the O’s move into the relegation zone, and the 60-year-old admits it is test of the team’s credentials.

“It is a test of character, but I have faith in them,” he remarked. “The group knows it is has the ability to do well and now we have to have the strength to cope with this disappointing result.

“We have many matches ahead of us and we have to move on from this disappointing result and we know it is up to us to turn the results around.”

Substitute Ulirch Nnomo was stretchered off late on after picking up an ankle injury, but Cavasin believes the injury is not as bad as first feared.

“Nnomo had a big hit on his ankle, but we do not think it is serious injury, however, this will be assessed and we will know more when the scans have taken place,” he said.
