NEWS: Leyton Orient Supporters' Club assists They Took The Lead project

23 February 2017

LOSC lend their support to Leyton Orient Trust project

Leyton Orient Trust kindly thank and acknowledge receipt of £1,000 in support of the Trust's They Took the Lead, Clapton Orient Project.

The Clapton Orient project started in April 2015 with a youth re-enactment of the famous Clapton Orient v Leicester Fosse match in 1915 that marked 41 Orient players and officials joining up to fight together in World War One.

With Heritage Lottery Funding, the Trust researched this element of the club's history, utilising Steve Jenkins’ book, 'They Took the Lead' as its main source.  With volunteer help from club fans an exhibition and website launched at Vestry House Museum in May last year.

The additional funding will enable Trust staff to deliver 10 additional primary school workshops on this theme, informing local children of this important element of local history and in addition promoting the club.  A school tournament will be held in May 2017 as part of this work.

Philip is seen here with the LOSC cheque alongside Steve Jenkins and David Dodd before the Carlisle United game on February 4.
