PREVIEW: Koroma - 'We need to take our chances'

24 February 2017

Winger looks to build on latest first-team run

Forward Josh Koroma insists the O’s level of performance must remain high in the bid to move out of the bottom two when facing Cheltenham Town at the Matchroom Stadium tomorrow.

The 18-year-old was disappointed to see their efforts last weekend unrewarded in the 3-2 defeat to Notts County and while pleased with the performance, he insists it’s now time to turn those positives into much-needed League Two points.

“These last few weeks have been good for me and it is great to be back involved again with the new Gaffer,” he told leytonorient.com.

“I will continue to try and do my best for the team and for myself as we try and move up the table.

“No matter how you play you always want to get three points. The positives were that we all played well as a team and created a lot of chances last weekend but we just didn’t make the most of them.

“We have a chance to put that right this weekend and we will be looking to do that and come out of the relegation zone as a result. It is a must win game and we have to get the three points. We are capable of that.”

Koroma has featured in the last three games under manager Danny Webb, someone who he knows well from his days in the O’s youth team.

During those games, the youngster has had hand in some of the O’s goals, but is now eager to net his maiden first-team goal this weekend.

“This experience has been great so far and Danny has instilled a lot of confidence in the group. Now for me it is about development in the senior environment, learning how to deal with wins and defeats so it is a great learning curve for me,” he added.

“It’s been nice to play a part in a few of the goals of late even though they won’t go down as my assists. I should have scored a few as well but I just have to keep going and push on.”
