Information and team news ahead of the O's trip to St James ParkAndy Edwards will be hoping the O’s can start the New Year with a positive result against Exeter City tomorrow afternoon (3pm).
Orient head into the game on the back of a 1-1 home draw with Cambridge United, thanks to Ollie Palmer’s stoppage time equaliser.
That ensured the O’s are unbeaten in the last three home games, and currently lie in 20th spot in the League Two table at the midway stage of the season.
In the reverse fixture Orient suffered a 1-0 defeat, with Ollie Watkins netting the only goal of the game for the Grecians.
Watkins remains in good form, and scored a hat-trick in their 4-1 win over Newport County on New Year’s Eve – a day after his 21st birthday.
Paul Tisdale’s side took the lead going into the break with Watkins’ opener on the stroke of half time, before he doubled the advantage two minutes into the second period.
David Wheeler added a third, and though Sean Rigg pulled one back for the Exiles, Watkins ensured he kept the matchball with his third in the final minute of the game.
Exeter are unbeaten in their last six games and they hold 11th spot going into the first fixture of the new year.
The Grecians home record is not great though, with their only win coming in a 2-0 success over Mansfield on December 17.
AHEAD OF THE GAME
Ollie Palmer hopes to get the New Year off to a positive start – here
Striker Ollie Palmer is pushing for a starting spot after scoring the late equaliser in New Year’s Eve’s 1-1 draw with Cambridge United.
All three substitutions against the U’s were forced with Teddy Mezague (groin), Sam Dalby (ankle) and Sandro Semedo being replaced, and with the quick turnaround all three are doubts for the trip to St James’ Park.
Callum Kennedy was named on the bench against Cambridge and is another who is hoping to make the starting XI at Exeter.
SKY BET BETTING (correct at the time of writing)
Exeter City are the 10/11 favourites with Football League sponsor Sky Bet to take all three points tomorrow.
The O’s can extend their unbeaten run to three games, and are priced at 16/5, while the draw is available at 12/5.
Ollie Palmer was the goalscorer against Cambridge United and can be backed at 6/1 to net the opener at St James Park while Paul McCallum and Sam Dalby are available at 13/2 and 7/1 respectively.
New Year’s Eve’s hat-trick hero for Exeter, Ollie Watkins is 11/2 to keep up his good goalscoring form.
