REACTION: Mezague - 'Conceding early in the second half is frustrating'

Frenchman reflects on loss at the One Call Stadium

Orient defender Teddy Mezague admitted his disappointment at conceding so early in the second half as the O’s went on to suffer a 2-0 defeat to Mansfield Town on Saturday.

Goals from Ben Whiteman and Danny Rose on 48 and 57 minutes respectively saw the O’s lose out for the fourth game on the spin, and drop into the bottom two as other results went against us.

The Frenchman had been content with the defensive showing in the first half, but felt conceding just three minutes into the second half was a bitter pill to swallow.

“Conceding so early in the second half is very frustrating. We had worked hard to keep a clean sheet up until half time, but we have to keep on working on that aspect of the game to ensure we cut it out completely,” Mezague told leytonorient.com.

“It was very disappointing and it is a bad series of results for us at the moment, but we have to bring that to an end. We have conceded a lot of goals lately and we didn’t create too many opportunities as well against Mansfield, but we have to change something in our game in order to turn the results around.”

It was the 26-year-old’s seventh appearance of the season after recovering from an Achilles injury, and he admits he’s adapting to the English style of game with every minute out on the pitch.

“I am adjusting to the English style of football with every game. It is a much more physical game here in England and I am learning all the time,” he added.

Mezague was frustrated to send 293 Orient fans home unhappy from the One Call Stadium at the weekend, and is urging for him and his team-mates to produce a strong response in the O's upcoming back-to-back home games with Carlisle United and Morecambe.

“We’ve sent the fans away unhappy and that is not good enough,” he remarked.

“The next two games are at home and they are very important we pick up some points to help us get out of the position we find ourselves in after this result.”
