The Club is delighted to announce the appointment of former Chief Executive Matt Porter to the Board of Directors.
Porter, 37, became the youngest CEO in English football when appointed in 2006, coinciding with the Club’s promotion to League One at the end of the 2005-06 season, and occupied the role for eight years.
A life-long fan of the Club, Porter adds considerable football experience to the Board, with the Chief Executive of the Professional Darts Corporation joining Club Chairman Nigel Travis and Principal Investor Kent Teague.
Speaking on the appointment, Porter said; “I’m delighted to be returning to the Club and didn’t have to think twice to take up a position on the Board when Nigel offered it to me.
“This is a time for us to look to the future and there’s a great buzz around the place because everyone knows how difficult things have been and that cloud has now been lifted.
“I’ve been working with Nigel on this since the start of the year and it was frustrating for us how long the process took, but the enthusiasm and dedication of the group really shone through for me and I know they’ll be great owners of the Club.
“I’ve been really flattered by the messages from fans on Twitter asking me to return as CEO and although that isn’t the position I am returning as, I’m on hand for both Marshall and whoever is recruited long-term to impart as much experience and knowledge of the Club as is needed.
“With Martin back at the Club to look after the football side, and a core staff in place which will expand to cope with the demands on it, I’m confident it won’t be long before the Club is fully operational again and we can start to put a smile back on everyone’s face.”
Further appointments to the Board will be announced in due course.
