As part of its immediate strategy to prepare the Club for the new National League season, Club representatives met with Omer Riza on Friday afternoon.
At this meeting, it was explained to Omer that, with no coaching staff under contract beyond June 30, the Club will be undertaking a full and comprehensive recruitment process for all senior coaching positions, effective immediately.
The Club would like to place on record its thanks to Omer for his service to Leyton Orient in various roles during a difficult period for the Club. Omer requested to address the Club’s fans and the Club is happy to issue the following statement from him.
“I was thanked for all my hard work and invited to re-apply for one of three roles which are available at the Club. I have made the decision to apply for the role of First Team Manager based on the support, passion and drive shown by the players, staff and fans.
“I have also indicated to the Club one other role that I would be happy to fill within the Academy. This role would enable me to ensure and continue the development and progression of youth players through the ranks at the Club to help safeguard the Club’s future. I have worked tirelessly during the off season to ensure that whatever the fate of the Club the team was handed over in the best possible condition.
“Pre-season friendlies were arranged by me and I understand most of these will be kept in place.
“I am thankful to all the staff and coaches at Leyton Orient, especially to my first team staff. They helped make an extremely difficult task one I will never regret and I would also like to thank the players, especially the younger ones, who I have had the honour of working with over the course of two years for the achievements they have accomplished.
“I would like to take this opportunity to extend my thanks to the fans for the support they have shown me - it has been a pleasure.”
