Orient striker Macauley Bonne has been named in Zimbabwe’s 22-man squad for their upcoming friendlies against Lesotho and Namibia.
Interim Zimbabwe Coach Wilson Mutekede has handed Bonne a first call-up to the senior side, after the 22-year-old had previously represented the Warriors at under-23s level.
Bonne, who has registered nine goals for the O’s this season, will be looking to make his senior debut in the fixtures which will be played on November 8 and 11 respectively.
As a result, Bonne will miss the O’s National League fixture at Ebbsfleet United on November 11.
Speaking on Bonne receiving international recognition, Head Coach Steve Davis told leytonorient.com; “Every player wants to play for his country and Macca is no different. It will be a great experience for him and help continue his development by playing at a level which is different to what he is used to.
“It is a blow that will be without him for the trip to Ebbsfleet, but we hope he enjoys the experience and comes back to us fit and ready for the home game against Dover.”
