COMMUNITY: Local charity celebrates 21st anniversary

16 November 2017

Waltham Forest Churches Night Shelter (WFCNS), more affectionately known as ‘Branches’, situated on Forest Road, Walthamstow, celebrated its 21st anniversary celebration last month and Howard Gould, LOFC Community Liaison Officer, was happy to accept his invitation to attend.

“We were very happy to have Branches fundraising at the match versus Eastleigh recently and have them utilising our Fans For Diversity hub”, said Howard. “It’s important we support our local community in all its diversity and it was great to see a few of the residents and friends who could attend the game enjoying themselves and the experience the O’s have to offer”.

And on behalf of the charity, Cathy Russo said, “It was our first attempt at this type of fundraising and although a little more wide-ranging than we anticipated we thank Leyton Orient for their gracious offer and would like to thank those generous fans who donated towards the £140 raised at the game. Those who attended had a fabulous time and now have a treasured memory”.

WFCNS is a registered charity that have been supporting single homeless men and women for over 21 years, with temporary accommodation and resettlement support.
